Chambres d'hôtes Art d’Eco Logis - Monthou-Sur-Cher
52 Route des Caves 41400 MONTHOU-SUR-CHER
Please note: cave dwellings are not recommended for people with asthma, but they are highly recommended in hot weather.
Renaud welcomes you with his two cats (Héra and Poros) to a socio-cultural country house with five cave dwellings, a wooden shed converted into a living room and woodland on the hillside.
Here, everything is designed to ensure that cyclists have a pleasant stay, leaving their bikes in a former stable cellar converted into a bike cellar. All the tools you need to repair your bike are in this lockable cellar, and a foot pump with pressure gauge is at your disposal.
Come and recharge your batteries, relax in the garden reading, playing cards or board games with background music, or watch a cartoon or film under the shed.
Take your mind off things by chatting about this and that in a joyful and friendly atmosphere, or find a quiet corner in the garden to contemplate the magnificent starry sky. In short, enjoy a change of scenery by immersing yourself in nature in a place where we respect nature, animals and, of course, humans, after 25 years of working in social housing.
In addition, the programme of festivities for this summer in Monthou:
- Autumn festival on 12 October,
- Folk concert on 15 November.

Bakery
In spring and summer, the swallows and their young are present in the cellars, including the bakery, where there has been an active nest for decades. Don't be surprised if there is a bucket under the nest for their natural needs.
This troglodytic cellar, known as the "bakery", contains :
- a bread oven + fireplace,
- a double bed with a new mattress and base + a cot,
- a wardrobe,
- 2 dressing tables,
- a chamber pot,
- a coffee table with cushions.
Authentic, rustic comfort (dressing table and chamber pot to avoid having to use the bathroom and toilet in the house or outside) and unusual.
The temperature, at the moment, is just over 20°, which is cool for the scorching summer).

Bergerie
This troglodytic cellar, formerly a sheepfold, features :
- a new, comfortable double bed on a pallet,
- a small desk
- a dressing table with a jug and hairdressing basin, a bedroom urinal and chamber pot,
- old rabbit hutches,
- a wooden rack to decorate the bed.
- a small piece of furniture to store your personal belongings + a change of sheets and extra blankets.
Please note that there is no telephone network in this cellar due to the thickness of the walls. This allows for total disconnection and welcomes people who are hypersensitive to electromagnetic fields.
Since it was a sheepfold, it has a dirt floor with rugs at the foot of the bed.
The door was screened, and new screening was installed to maintain the authentic feel, with an opaque curtain added for privacy.
The temperature right now is just over 16°C, which is cool but 3°C warmer than outside, and there is a Godin stove available.
